Earlier this year, the Deloitte Millennial Survey for 2018 came out and explored the views of 10,455 millennials and 1,844 Gen Z respondents around the globe within the context of a fragmenting social and political environment and some pretty significant changes driven by new technologies under the umbrella of ‘the Fourth Industrial Revolution’ or Industry 4.0. Wyclef Jean’s message to Canadian tech leaders – Discover underrepresented talent today
As the day for main stage talks at Elevate Conference in Toronto wrapped up, I was impressed by the great talks I’d heard (which I’ve summarized in my latest article for Betakit). However, one of the talks that stood out as quite different from the rest, was from acclaimed artist and music producer Wyclef Jean. Elevate attendees heard Jean preach diversity, reveal that his birthday is the same date as Canada’s cannabis legalization (Oct. 17), and even rap in English, Spanish and French. Building a Marketing Team for a B2B Firm

From Techno Music into the Tech Ecosystem
As a champion of culture and subcultures outside of the mainstream, I’ve always found it fascinating to learn about new technologies and how they impact those ecosystems where they play a role. Over the last year, I have been working on tackling the question of what is my ultimate purpose. The method comes from Simon Sinek and his book “ Find Your Why,” in which he presents one way of uncovering what motivates individuals. When you uncover your mission and vision, you can more effectively communicate this with the world.

A New Year Resolutions Method That’s Hard-Wired for Success
About 4 years ago a friend of mine recommended a way to think about New Year Resolutions that was compelling. She had found it somewhere online in a blog she had read, and she passed the link on to me. I’ve since been unable to find that blog, but I am writing this one in the hopes that it’ll help others who want to make new years’ resolutions that are comprehensive, based on fact and optimized for results.

Good Work Relationships are Another Competitive Advantage
If there’s one thing I have to reflect on lately about business it’s the people and the work relationships that we have, both with ourselves and with each other. Often our success or our failure in a situation at work and in life has to do with our own confidence, competency, and our ability to judge with a clear head and avoid self-sabotage. In addition, it’s always essential to reconcile differences of opinion with our team members.

The Art of Survival as a Futuristic Startup Leader
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, facing stressful situations daily and rarely feeling like you’re winning, even though others think you’re a success — you’re not alone. There’s a big community of founders and leaders of startups who have either gone through it, can offer advice or commiserate with you. Many of them were at the 7th annual startup festival in Montreal this past week, and they had lots to say. Speaking with many of them validated my own ideas and experiences and others that I’ve heard about within the industry. One needs to be strong to thrive while building a rapidly evolving startup. It’s difficult, but building habits to restore and connect with others can help. Continue reading “The Art of Survival as a Futuristic Startup Leader”
